Solar Sister

What is Solar Sister?

Solar Sister is an initiative focused on providing access to clean energy through solar-powered lamps for children and families in remote areas, particularly in 3T areas (Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost), which still lack access to electricity. This program aims to support children's learning activities that are hindered by the lack of lighting, especially at night. The name "Solar Sister" was chosen because the program is run entirely by women, from planning and execution to community engagement. This decision reflects not just gender equality but a mission to empower women in rural areas who often lack access to opportunities. Women are seen as crucial agents in community development, and Solar Sister aims to give them a role in creating positive change.
