Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama (UNU) Kalimantan Barat hosted “She Leads the Change: Women in STEM for Climate Resilience,” a workshop highlighting the strategic role of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in driving innovative and inclusive climate resilience solutions.

The event was a collaboration between the Girls and Women in Renewable Energy Academy (GAWIREA) and Imperial College London, supported by the International Day of Women and Girls in Science Outreach Fund. It aimed to promote women’s participation in STEM—particularly in leadership roles—and to bridge academic research with grassroots climate action.

The workshop, held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 08:00 WIB, was attended by 30 participants from diverse backgrounds, including female students and climate leaders interested in STEM. The program was divided into two main sessions.

The first session introduced renewable energy and included a hands-on demonstration of off-grid solar power equipment, enabling participants to better understand solar technologies applicable to remote communities. The second session featured the Net Zero Heroes toolkit, a card-based game designed to teach participants how to create fair and effective climate policies through an interactive, engaging format.

The event concluded with group discussions, allowing participants to reflect on their learning and explore potential community-based climate solutions. With its interactive approach, the workshop provided both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Through this initiative, GAWIREA and Imperial College London aim to inspire more women to pursue careers in STEM and take on leadership roles in addressing the climate crisis.
